National Hospitality Services promotes Sarah Koustrup to Executive Vice President

FARGO (Aug. 8, 2016) — National Hospitality Services (NHS) announces the June 1 promotion of Sarah Koustrup to Executive Vice President, where she now oversees Operations/Sales, Accounting/Finance, Procurement and Human Resources. The move rewards Koustrup for her pivotal role in the organization’s success and outstanding corporate culture, and allows President Norman Leslie to focus on broader growth endeavors rather than day-to-day operations.

Since joining NHS in October 2012 as Director of Human Resources, and being promoted in April 2014 to Vice President of Human Resources, Koustrup has been responsible for policy development and implementation, performance management, talent acquisition, recognition programs and strategic planning.

According to Norman Leslie, NHS President, Koustrup assumes this position with the focus of building onto an already strong culture of performance. “NHS centers its management strategy around core KPIs that drive the short, medium and long term success of the hotels we manage. Koustrup is passionate about continually refining our processes so that our hotel portfolio performs at their optimal level. Owners have come to expect best in class performance from NHS. Koustrup’s management of this dynamic team will only further this performance.”

Her influence in hiring, training and rewarding enthusiastic and motivated employees is one of the reasons why NHS enjoys an extremely low turnover rate — 15 percent of industry norm.

Koustrup says she is proud of the company culture which she has helped to create, and is excited to focus on organizational growth. NHS projects it will significantly increase its current 22 managed hotels by the end of next year. “It’s critical to ensure that processes and procedures continue to be well-defined and consistently executed, she says. “That way, when a problem happens, it’s merely a bump in the road, not a crater.”

Koustrup has previously worked in human resources for Microsoft (Arvato), Citigroup and Midco a Midwest-based telecommunications company. She earned a bachelor’s in human resources management and business administration from Colorado Technical University; and a masters’ certification in hospitality management with a focus on financial management and hotel revenue management from Cornell University.
