January 17th, 2022 (Fargo, ND) – National Hospitality Services (NHS, LLC) is excited to announce the graduation of their first Ascend Program participants through NHS University (NHSU). The Ascend Level 1 program was launched in the Fall of 2021 with associates from across the country applying to participate in the 120-day, in-depth hospitality development program.

The Ascend Level 1 participants work at the line level in housekeeping, front desk, food & beverage, and maintenance and participate in weekly trainings and assignments with Senior Leaders to gain the skills to become the next generation of NHS leadership. The program focuses on a variety of topics including revenue management, company culture, guest satisfaction, human resources, accounting, leadership, and much more.

“We have been working on developing this program for some time and believe that this is something that sets us apart from other Hotel Management groups,” said Sarah Koustrup, Chief Strategy Officer at NHS. “We truly believe in the potential of all of our associates across the U.S. and we are so proud to offer this opportunity for them to grow within the company and ascend their careers.”

The Fall 2021 Level 1 program saw five associates graduate last month:
  • Amber Sprouls – Delta Hotels by Marriott Fargo, North Dakota
  • Ariel Anders – Holiday Inn Express Indianapolis, Indiana
  • Jasmine McCaskill – Delta Hotels by Marriott Grand Rapids, Michigan
  • Jillian Warren – Staybridge Suites Wilmington, North Carolina
  • Sherrica Ervin – Homewood Suites Tyler, Texas
Graduates from this program earn an increase in pay, are given preferential treatment for promotional opportunities throughout the organization and are key parts of NHS’s focus on associate retention and bench strength.

This program is offered to current associates at no cost. Eligibility requirements include 6 months of experience in their current role and approval from the properties’ General Manager and Regional Director. Associates who have completed the Level 1 program, as well as salaried mid-level managers, are now able to enroll in the Ascend Level 2 course, with applications due Wednesday, January 26th, 2022.
